Brass lessons FAQ
What age should my child start brass lessons?
Many students begin brass lessons around ages 9–11, once they have the physical development needed for proper breath support and embouchure. We also work with older beginners and adult students at all levels.
Which brass instruments do you teach?
We offer lessons in trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba. Students may choose an instrument based on interest, school band needs, or teacher recommendation.
Do I need to have an instrument before starting lessons?
Yes, students should have access to their own instrument for practice. If you are unsure where to rent or purchase, we are happy to recommend trusted local options.
How often should students practice?
Consistent practice is key to building strength and control. Beginners may start with 10–15 minutes per day, gradually increasing as their endurance and technique develop.
Do you help with school band and auditions?
Absolutely. We regularly support students in school band programs, helping with technique, music preparation, chair placements, and audition material.
Are recitals required?
Recitals are encouraged but not required. They provide a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence and perform in a supportive environment.
