Percussion Lessons FAQ
What age should my child start percussion or drum lessons?
Many students begin percussion or drum lessons around ages 6–8, though we also work with older beginners, teens, and adult students. Lessons are personalized based on each student’s age, experience level, and goals.
Do I need a drum set before starting lessons?
Students should have access to a practice pad or drum set at home for regular practice. If you are unsure what equipment to purchase, we are happy to recommend beginner-friendly options.
What types of percussion do you teach?
We offer instruction in drum set and general percussion skills, including rhythm development, coordination, reading notation, and stylistic versatility.
How often should students practice?
Consistent practice is important for progress. Beginners may start with 10–15 minutes a day, gradually increasing as their coordination, endurance, and technique improve.
Do you help with school band and auditions?
Yes. We regularly help students prepare for school band participation, auditions, performances, and other musical opportunities.
Are recitals required?
Recitals are encouraged but not required. They provide students with a fun and supportive opportunity to build confidence and showcase their progress.
