String lessons FAQ
What age should my child start string lessons?
Many students begin string lessons around ages 5–7, though we also work with older beginners, teens, and adult students. Lessons are tailored to each student’s age, experience level, and goals.
Which string instruments do you teach?
We offer lessons in violin, viola, cello, and bass. Students may choose an instrument based on personal interest, school orchestra participation, or teacher recommendation.
Do I need to have an instrument before starting lessons?
Yes, students should have access to their own instrument for regular practice at home. If needed, we are happy to recommend trusted local rental and purchase options.
How often should students practice?
Consistent practice is important for developing strong technique and confidence. Beginners often start with 10–15 minutes a day, gradually increasing as their skills and endurance improve.
Do you help with school orchestra and auditions?
Absolutely. We regularly help students prepare for school orchestra participation, youth symphony auditions, solo performances, and other musical opportunities.
Are recitals required?
Recitals are encouraged but not required. They provide students with a valuable opportunity to build confidence and perform in a supportive environment.
