Dr. Jun-Hee Han

Dr. Jun-Hee Han has been actively giving solo recitals in Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Utah and Wisconsin. Notable performances of recent years are the concerts in which he played both on modern and period pianos, conducting Mozart and Beethoven concertos from the keyboard at the University of Utah (Salt Lake City, UT), Presbyterian College (Clinton, SC), Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC), as well as Masonic Temple (Freeport, IL) for a FACC (Freeport Area Church Cooperative) benefit concert.
Dedicated to fostering young talent at higher education institutions, Dr. Han founded the OMF Music Resources (www.omfmusicresources.com) with Dr. Kenneth Drake (Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois) to work closely with collegiate level students in the country by offering shared visits to schools of music and music departments. In these visits, he worked with
piano and music majors by giving lectures, masterclasses and performances at Boston University (Boston, MA), University of Utah (Salt Lake City, UT), Weber State University (Ogden, UT), Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (Corpus Christi, TX), University of South Alabama (Mobile, AL), Truman State University (Kirksville, MO), Presbyterian College (Clinton, SC) and East Central College (Union, MO). In addition, he has worked closely with music teachers at Teachers Round Table (St. Louis, MO), Illinois State Music Teachers Association state convention/west suburban chapter workshop, and music organizations in Lake Zurich and Crystal Lake in Illinois. Dr. Han is also a participant/presenter in MTNA national conferences since 2013 and a performer/presenter for Historical Keyboard Society of North America conferences since 2018.
As an enthusiastic supporter of communities with the belief in the right of education, Dr. Han strives to bring high-quality music education to communities where they do not enjoy the advantage of it. He created, directed and organized summer music programs with collegiate level music students in the northern Illinois area. This includes leading musicianship classes, orchestral rehearsals and concerts that he conducted at Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL), Judson University (Elgin, IL), Rock Valley College (Rockford, IL), Highland Community College (Freeport, IL), the Sandwich Opera House (Sandwich, IL) and the Freeport Illinois Masonic Temple Auditorium (Freeport, IL). In addition, being passionate about providing high-quality classical music performances and education to diverse audiences, he and pianist Hyejin Cho created the Lucerna Music Foundation, a non-profit organization.
Dr. Han holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (DMA in Piano Performance with a minor in German music and culture, MM in Piano Performance), Indiana University (Diploma), and the Chicago Conservatory of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University (BM in Piano Performance). He taught at Oklahoma State University before relocating to the greater Chicago area. His upcoming projects include the performance guide for Beethoven’s complete piano sonatas.
Dr Han is pleased to announce that he is joining the piano faculty at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois starting in the fall of 2024.
