Stuart Hoskins
Percussion Instructor

Stuart Hoskins is a freelance performer and private percussion instructor who loves helping students discover their passion for percussion. A well rounded educator and performer, he loves the diversity that percussion offers. From the jazz drum set to the orchestral triangle, there is always something new in percussion to be explored, and Stuart seeks to help students master the wide range of instruments and styles in percussion.
Stuart has experience playing in a variety of contexts, from orchestras and chamber ensembles to jazz combos and musical theater pits. A few notable performances include playing on KUVO Jazz radio, performing with the Fort Collins Symphony, and playing John Luther Adams’ Inuksuit at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. While he is always ready for whatever new musical adventure might come his way, Stuart feels most at home behind the timpani and playing the classical symphonic repertoire.
Stuart holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Wheaton College and a Master of Music in Performance from Colorado State University. He is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society and has participated in a variety of PAS events with many renowned percussionists. Stuart has experience teaching a wide range of students, from elementary school beginners to undergraduate musicians. His greatest influences in his teaching are his own teachers: Shilo Stroman, Dr. Eric Hollenbeck, Dr. Kathleen Kastner, and Michael Folker.
